LOCAL INFORMATION SHEET
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It is for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.
IELTS measures test takers’ ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Since 1989, IELTS has been proven and trusted worldwide to provide a secure, global, authentic and customer-focused test which measures true to life ability to communicate in English.
IELTS is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
Test Administration Dates
IELTS tests are held regularly at the Malta Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise. The following is the complete list of test dates in 2008.

The module you should choose
IELTS is available in two formats – Academic and General Training. For more information on each module please refer to the “Information to Candidates” booklet.
Fees
The fee for the test is Lm 68.00 (€158.39) per candidate for sessions till 29.03.08. For all sessions after the 01.04.08 the test fee will be €160. This fee is to be paid to the Malta Chamber of Commerce & Enterprise and accompanied by a completed Application Form and two recent passport size photographs. No Application Form will be accepted unless complete and accompanied by payment. Applications should be received at the centre by the closing date for the selected session. Cheques are to be made payable to the ‘‘Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise’’. Should you wish to pay us directly from overseas, please email us for more details.
Candidates who are applying in person must present a copy of their national identity card or passport. Candidates from countries outside the European Union should present their passport. If the completed application is being sent by post, please do not forget to include a photocopy of this document.
Notes:
Candidates who postpone or cancel their application after the closing date will be liable to forfeit the full test fee.
Candidates who are absent due to illness must provide appropriate medical evidence within 5 days of the test date to support their absence. They will then be able to sit for the test at the next available session.
Special Needs
If you have special needs and require particular arrangements for these, please contact the Administrator at least three months prior to the desired test date.
Evidence of Identity
On the test day, candidates are required to bring the same form of identity card as quoted on the Application Form. (Student cards will not be accepted).
Results
Test Report Forms (TRF) are released thirteen (13) calendar days after the test. However, in exceptional circumstances they may be delayed. You will know your result only by post or personally by hand to you on presentation of your identity card or passport.
Please ensure that we have your correct address and complete address/es of any universities or organizations where you would like copies of the result to be sent.
If you prefer to collect the TRF in person, please let us know before/on the test date.
It is also possible to receive your test report form by registered or express mail. The fees for this are:- registered mail only – Lm 0.60 (€1.40), express mail only – Lm 0.35 (€0.82); (both Lm 0.95//€2.21). If you select one of these methods to receive your test report form kindly note that this fee must be paid up to five days after the test date.
Results are also available by SMS on your personal mobile phone. Should you wish to receive your results also in this way, kindly complete the appropriate form at our reception desk.

Recommended as a pre-test assessment of your own capabilities, contains sample test materials for all modules and a sample Listening CD together with samples of candidates’ scripts and interviews. Price: Lm 6.00 (€13.97).
The Malta Centre
The Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise Business Education Programme has been servicing the business educational needs of various employers and their staff for the past 20 years. The Chamber, officially recognized as an IELTS centre on July 21, 1998 is a licensed school and an official examination centre for professional qualifications. Most of its programmes are delivered in English, which makes it an attractive venue for foreign nationals in the region wishing to engage in business studies.
