The functions and services of the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise may be broadly divided into three main categories namely:
1. The formulation of views on matters of policy and the communication of these views to the appropriate authorities.
2. Representation of the business community on outside bodies, and
3. General services to individual members.
The first two functions are the direct responsibility of the Council acting through the elected officers and at times with the help of specialised Committees on matters of policy; also through specially-appointed delegates when representation on outside bodies is concerned. The Council relies on the support and interest of individual members and, in particular, of specialised committees and the Trade Sections to promote legitimate business interest with maximum effect. The contribution provided by members on the various committees of the Chamber is vital to the policy making process.
