Objectives
National Initiatives

As plans are formulated with the aim of achieving a high and stable rate of economic growth, the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise is in the forefront of national economic policy debate. From time to time it makes observations and recommendations on what it feels should be done and how. It performs periodic analyses of the economic scenario and, where necessary it constructively criticises Government policy and its implementation. Its input on tackling problems of national importance is regularly sought by the central authorities together with that of other important representative bodies. The Chamber has taken a number of initiatives to help promote industrialisation and exports. It has organised a register of investors interested in joint ventures with foreign partners in Malta. More recently, the Chamber has been very active and involved at national level in the field of business education and environmental matters.

The Chamber also undertakes active lobbying and takes up with Government matters and problems of direct interest to its members. In all its actions, the Chamber endeavours to regulate itself not simply by sectoral considerations but by the overall national interest.

The Chamber’s essential objective is the furtherance of the economic common good on all levels and it is its firm belief that this is not only as it should be but that no section of the community can truly progress unless the whole community is moving forward.
