Strategic Alliance signed between Chamber and BOV

In October 2007, the Chamber and Bank of Valletta extended their collaboration agreement for another three years that will see both entities pool their resources and know-how for the benefit of the local business community.
The agreement was signed by Chamber President Mr Victor A. Galea and BOV Chief Executive Officer Mr Tonio Depasquale, at the Exchange in Valletta.

“Bank of Valletta is delighted to enter into this new agreement with the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise,” said Mr Depasquale. “We are hereby strengthening and consolidating our close working relationship with the Chamber, underlining our appreciation of the Chamber’s national mission and role to promote enterprise and growth to the benefit of all its members”.

Mr Depasquale added, “As Malta’s largest bank with a strong presence in every sector of the Maltese economy, we believe that our business alliance with the Chamber will deliver mutual benefit to the stakeholders of our respective organisations.”

Mr Depasquale announced that the new agreement entered into between BOV and the Chamber includes new areas of co-operation and will see the Bank deploying its expertise and resources to further support the local business community. “This is an agreement that underlines the Bank’s resolve to play a leading and supportive role within Malta’ business community and we are looking forward to this new level of collaboration,” concluded Mr. Depasquale.

Mr Galea said, “The Chamber is proud to have Bank of Valletta as a Collaborating Partner. This is evidence of the standing the Chamber has garnered over the last years. The extension of this agreement shows the importance of Bank of Valletta associating itself with a leading business organisation on the island.”

Simonds Farsons Cisk Signs Agreement

Simonds Farsons Cisk p.l.c. signed an agreement with the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise on Friday, 12th September 2003. The signing took place at the Exchange between Farsons' Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Louis A. Farrugia and then Chamber President, Mr Reginald Fava.

The agreement between the two organisations further re-enforces the special relationship that exists between the two organisations and which has developed over the long and illustrious histories of both organisations.

Mr Farrugia, himself a Chamber Past-President, stated that Farsons has always supported the commendable work carried out by the Chamber particularly in the course of the years and that Farsons was proud to play an active part in supporting the Chamber’s future path towards serving and representing the local business community. Besides Mr Louis A. Farrugia, Farsons have had long-standing relations with the Chamber and took pride to state that his father, Mr Lewis Farrugia and his cousin, Mr Anthony Miceli-Farrugia - former top-most executives at the Brewery - also served as Chamber Presidents.

On his part, Mr Reginald Fava thanked Simonds Farsons Cisk and Mr Farrugia whilst stating that the Chamber always endeavoured to achieve excellence. He continued that the signing of this Agreement will assist greatly in achieving this objective. The then President said that the Chamber was honoured that Farsons had chosen to sign the Agreement as part of its 75th Anniversary commemorations.

Chamber signs collaboration agreement with HSBC

In December 2007, HSBC Malta strengthened further its relationship with the Chamber through a Gold Partner Support Agreement to collaborate on projects which benefit the business community.

Funds from the HSBC support agreement will be used to set up a Trade and International Affairs Desk at the Malta Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise (MCCE) with the aim of promoting external trade and investment. The project seeks to help member companies in internationalising their business operations by assisting them to tap new markets for products and services; invest overseas and find international trade or investment partners. While focusing on specific regional markets the Chamber will also provide market-research information.

The Chamber intends to assist in the organisation of export promotion activities and trade exhibitions, and offer specialised training and mentoring. A Trade, Investment and Internationalisation Manager has just been recruited to spearhead these services which will be offered in collaboration with HSBC.

“HSBC Malta is very happy to work with the Chamber of Commerce now that they have moved away from exclusive partnerships. We can help and support not just domestic business but also those companies doing business overseas though our Global Links,” said Shaun Wallis, HSBC Malta’s CEO.
“Collaboration between the Chamber and a global banking institution of HSBC’s stature is invaluable to the local business community not merely from a financial point of view, but in terms of the expertise and networks which HSBC is also making available to the Chamber and its members,” said Chamber President Mr Victor A. Galea. “This initiative by HSBC is to be construed as a sign of the recognition and high esteem enjoyed by our Chamber and its track record over the last years.”

The agreement, extendable after three years, was signed by Chamber president Mr Victor A. Galea and HSBC Malta CEO, Mr Shaun Wallis.
