The Council

The business of the Chamber is managed by a Council consisting of 16 elected members, the Chairpersons of the Chamber's six Economic Groups (the latter are ex-officio members with full voting powers) and all Past Presidents who, although entitled to sit on the Council, thereby giving the Chamber the benefit of their experience, are not entitled to vote.
The Council is required by Statute to meet at least once a month, or whenever considered necessary by the President or at the request of five members of the Council.
The Officers of the Chamber are elected at the first meeting of the Council each year. The Statute provides for the Office of the President, Senior Vice-President, Vice-President, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Assistant Honorary Secretary and Assistant Honorary Treasurer.
The Director-General of the Chamber, a permanent post, is responsible for the execution of the policies of the Council.
